Mobispine to merge with General Wireless to
create Mobile Internet Leader
Stockholm, Sweden, May 21, 2008 -
Mobispine AB (MOBS) an aggregator of Web-based
content for the Mobile Internet and General
Wireless, the leading provider of PC-to-mobile
messaging, today announced they have entered into a
definitive agreement under which Mobispine will
acquire all General Wireless shares in a stock
transaction.
The combination of Mobispine and General Wireless
offers consumers one of the most comprehensive
portfolios of mobile applications in the industry
including personalized RSS feeds of news and blog
articles, the ability to share content with friends
and the option to send SMS and MMS messages from the
PC to mobile phones among other features.
The products and services currently offered by
Mobispine and General Wireless greatly complement
each other and will drive further growth. To date,
both companies have grown strongly with Mobispine’s
current adoption rate tracking at 200,000 mobile
downloads per month with users in more than 180
countries. As a result of the acquisition Mobispine
will have access to General Wireless’ expansive list
of global customers and partners which will broaden
the company’s reach and drive momentum. General
Wireless has partnerships with more than 20 global
operators such as: Vodafone UK, Telefonica Moviles
Espana, Orange, Telecom Italia Mobile, KPN,
TeliaSonera, Mobilkom Austria, NetCom, 02 and Tele2
among others.
Mobispine aggregates the Web content and information
transmitted by RSS feed offering users fast and cost
effective access. Mobispine is free to download, so
to start ‘murfing’ (mobile surfing) all users need
is a mobile phone that is Internet-enabled and
accepts Java programs.
There are in excess of 250,000 feeds being monitored
for updates and users can also add new feeds
instantly. The unique search function also ensures a
quick, effortless experience when exploring all the
content on these feeds.

General Wireless’ eSMS products are seamlessly
integrated into applications that most of us already

messages is simply added to the standard mobile
phone bill or prepaid account. For operators, the
big advantage of eSMS is that it will increase

Completion of the transaction is subject to
regulatory approval, Mobispine shareholder approval
and other customary closing conditions.
